Madness?12:01am wednesday, 26th december
What is madness? Madness is staying up all night to talk to the visions in your head. It is hearing a piano in the air play a song that you've never heard played on piano before. It's hearing a voice come out of your television set telling you who's going to win the Oscar for best live action short film (yes, this really happened to me). It's trying to pee from 10 pm at night till 4 am in the morning (look here for more on that). It's laughing hysterically for no visible reason because inside jokes (pun intended) are the most hilarious. I'll tell you what madness is. It's everything around you and inside you felt to the fifth degree more than anyone should.

I think I have something of a grip on sanity, too. Sanity is catching yourself before you go over the brink — it's not following the path of least resistance, because things like paranoia are tricky like that. It's waking up in the morning and walking to work at a job you're pretty good at but still don't like that much, grabbing coffee and a cigarette along the way. All those things that come as routine: washing dishes, making your bed, taking out the trash, doing your laundry. That's sanity. It's a lightness of being that's (yes) sometimes unbearable (forgive me, Milan Kundera), but man, is it worth it. If nothing else, for a good night's sleep.

Yup that's sanity for me too. But I would add being aware of your own thoughts is a higher form of thought. Why are so many of crazy people freaked out by this? Wise men have said it is the height of human thought yet we can't handle it in our modern society. What we can handle when we get better seems less but maybe we were on the mountain?

I agree with Pierre. The world is a twisted place, isn't it?

Yes, the world is a twisted place but in my opinion, people who are "sane" never really lived. I don't see how I could've lived through my childhood w/o having those fits of laughter or bouts of crying w/o a real reason for laughing or crying.

I agree mostly I relate.Being productive in the simplest ways calms or subdues madness from running rampid through your brain I do believe you can think yourself insane . Idle hands .

You have madness down flat. Thoughts in the head are so gone. All to do is think. Thinking drives you insane, yet is the only thing that keeps you sane.

A wise man once told me that if you think too much about bad things, the bad things become a living reality. Therefore try to think of positive happy things so you do not get sucked into a world of madness...Good Day :)

Maybe.. If only we had something that ment something to all of us within everything. Not putting your faith in god is starting and actng as a human is ending. Without that people can't live the life we need to badly. Getting lost in your own perception of thought. Thought. That's wrong. Even though raw emotions speak for themselves. Because he live without limits. The wrong way. Acts of men are better than acts of god. Who are we?
